Majlis debates on Oil Ministry nominee slated for Dec 11
Majlis will start debate on the qualifications of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s fourth proposed oil minister, Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh, next Sunday, Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said here Sunday.
Haddad-Adel made the announcement at the open session of the Majlis Sunday after he read Ahmadinejad’s letter introducing the current caretaker of the Oil Ministry Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh as his new nominee for the oil portfolio.
Ahmadinejad’s letter was submitted to the Majlis Presiding Board by Vice-President for Parliamentary Affairs Ahmad Moussavi.
President Ahmadinejad first named Ali Saeedlou as his nominee for the portfolio but he was rejected by the Majlis.
After Saeedlou’s rejection, the president appointed Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh as caretaker of the ministry on August 30.
The president’s second nominee, Sadeq Mahsouli, withdrew before the Majlis took a vote of confidence.
Majlis on November 23 gave vote of no confidence to the third proposed oil minister, Mohsen Tasalloti, as a result of which the president reinstated Vaziri Hamaneh in his position.
Ahmadinejad was elected as Iran’s sixth president by over 17 million votes in the run-off elections held on June 24.
