iActivator is a Cocoa-based application for Mac which provides a nice interface for activating/deactivating your iPhone. It uses the method described here to perform activation. However, it doesn’t rely on any external programs and does everything in one application.

Alternate Activation Methods:
method1:Gizmodo posted a method to activate iPhone without assigning AT&T number!
1.) Obtain 2 iPhones
2.) Plug in iPhone #1 In iTunes select “I am a new AT&T Wireless Customer” and “Activate 2 or more phones on an individual or FamilyTalk Plan.”
3.) Follow the steps for the FamilyTalk plan and enter “Cell Number X” to port a number over from another provider (e.g. Sprint)
4.) When the you receive the “Activation Complete” e-mail, plug in iPhone #2.
5.) Select the option “I am an existing AT&T (Cingular) wireless customer” and “Replace a phone on my account with this iPhone”
6.) Fill in the information re-using “Cell Number X.” Allow the iPhone #2 to activate using this number. This number will be legit.
7.) Plug in iPhone #2, it will unlock the phone for use, but without a cell phone number assigned or account from AT&T.
method2(Anderson method):
1.) Download the following file to your Mac. iPhoneTool.zip
2.) Extract it to a directory on your desktop named iPhoneTool
3.) Open the program “Terminal” location in HardDrive/Applications/Utilities
4.) Type the following command into the flashing cursor:
cd ~/Desktop/iPhoneTool
5.) Now make sure your iPhone is connected and you quit iTunes
6.) To activate your iPhone type the follwoing command into the flashing cursor (note that there are two dashes before activate):
./tool –activate a.plist
7.) Your iPhone screen should say something about a SIM error which is fine. Just slide the unlock bar over and it should work. Now connect it to your computer and you should be able to configure it through iTunes.
Cheers!!!

Alright… The world is watching…We need this thing Unlocked ASAP
I wouldn;t be surprized if T-Mobile engineers are trying to figure out how to unlock this thing, and I’m sure Apple wouldn’t be all sad either
